I have been a Kate Stewart reader long enough to know that she does not write small love stories. She writes the kind of romance that takes up space, asks things of you, and leaves a mark. Birds of a Feather is the second to last of the Ravenhood Legacy spin-off. This one is told through Tyler and Larissa's story, and it is exactly what this series deserved.
Tyler Jennings has been a presence in the Ravenhood world for many books now: guarded, fierce, bearing the weight of everyone else's secrets. Stewart builds on his backstory that we devoured in Severed Heart and delivers an emotional story that is genuinely moving, and I found myself far more attached to Tyler than I expected.. and I didn't think that would be possible.
Larissa is a wonderful match for him; equally complicated, equally burdened, carrying the weight of her family's legacy in ways that parallel Tyler's in interesting ways. Their dynamic is charged from the first page, and Stewart builds the tension masterfully before finally letting it break.
At 720 pages, this book asks for a real time commitment, and I'll be honest.... I still wish there was more - LOL. (Just kidding - but I would never turn down more). Stewart's ability to write emotional devastation and then rebuild it into something hopeful is on full display here, and the way she preps us for the last book of the Ravenhood world hit me harder than I expected... a cliffhanger!
If you've been following this series: do not skip this book. If you haven't: start with The Ravenhood trilogy first.
