The Legacy
by Elle Kennedy
4 out of 5 stars
Finishing an entire series always leaves me a little greedy for more, so I was genuinely excited to see Elle Kennedy give the Off-Campus couples a proper send-off instead of just letting them fade into “happily ever after, presumably.” The Legacy is four novellas, one for each pair, checking in a few years after graduation, and it’s less a victory lap than an actual continuation, which is exactly what made it work for me.
That’s the thing I appreciated most here: Kennedy doesn’t just hand everyone a tidy, frozen-in-amber HEA. Real life shows up in these pages, new pressures, new versions of old insecurities, the specific mess of figuring out who you are once college isn’t structuring your life for you anymore. Getting a glimpse of Tucker and Sabrina further down the road, in particular, felt like exactly the kind of follow-up I wanted after The Goal, proof that what they built together held up once the immediate crisis passed.
Structurally, novellas are always a gamble. There’s only so much room to build tension in fewer pages, and a couple of the four stories felt like they wrapped their central conflict a little quickly for my taste. But that’s a minor complaint against the real pleasure of the book, which is just spending more time with characters I’d already grown attached to across four full novels. There’s a genuinely fun, slightly unhinged subplot running through the collection that I won’t spoil, except to say it gave the book an unexpected sense of humor that kept the whole thing from feeling like pure nostalgia.
If you’ve read the rest of the series, this is a satisfying way to close the book on Briar University (atleast these characters stories). Not a flawless victory lap, but a warm, occasionally messy, genuinely earned one. Four stars: a nice way to catch up with everyone and see their stories rounded out past college.

Where are they now? The Legacy checks back in on all four Off-Campus couples years post-graduation, and it’s the tie-up this series earned.
