Cards on the Table
by Agatha Christie
4 out of 5 stars
A locked-room mystery with a unique twist, Cards on the Table is one of Agatha Christie’s most intriguing Hercule Poirot novels. The story revolves around a high-stakes bridge game where the host, Mr. Shaitana, is murdered in full view of four suspects—each of whom has a secret past.
What makes this book fascinating is how Christie uses psychology and deduction rather than physical evidence to unravel the crime. Poirot, as always, is sharp and insightful, but the novel’s real brilliance lies in how it forces readers to pay close attention to dialogue, behavior, and subtle clues. The pacing is excellent, and the final reveal is both satisfying and clever.
If you love classic whodunits and Poirot’s signature method of solving crimes, Cards on the Table is a must-read.
